In retrospect it's a pretty solid entry in the funny Bad Movie stakes. I'd take it again over Ip Man.Charlie Parkerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06141349823079178860noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-788280764985772675.post-46775534206061411362011-04-23T16:59:30.142-07:002011-04-23T16:59:30.142-07:00Yeah, Black Ransom was co-directed by the director...Yeah, Black Ransom was co-directed by the director of Bullet and Brain. Bullet and Brain was a monumental turd. Black Ransom is an improvement on that film but that isn't saying much. From what I remember of Black Ransom, it was mildly enjoyable but obviously forgettable.

A for Wong Jing, I agree that he has made a ton of shit. But he almost single handedly kept HK cinema going during it's late 90's downturn. He was definitley a smart businessman and had his hand and $ in a bunch of projects that it only stands to reason that when you stretch yourself out too thin and try to please everyone, you won't. A commercial powerhouse but a critical shithouse. F**k critics!!!

I would 9 times out of 10 watch a Wong Jing film over a Johnnie To film. But i'm sure i'm in the monirity =PKingwho?https://www.blogger.com/profile/02474560455739504154noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-788280764985772675.post-52591014325193176862011-04-22T10:19:11.371-07:002011-04-22T10:19:11.371-07:00I haven't seen Black ransom yet, its on its wa...I haven't seen Black ransom yet, its on its way to me as we speak. Isn't it the film from the same director as Bullet and brain?

As for Wong Jing, he clearly knows what he is doing business wise, and he's had a hand in plenty of good movies and some great ones but it can't be denied he has made more than his fair share of shit!A hero never dieshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13075070081480449104noreply@blogger.com
