The Warrior(s)
Ti Lung
Frankie Chan Fan-kei in the middle
Poster for Frankie Chan Fan-kei's 1993 wuxia epic A WARRIOR'S TRAGEDY aka THE INVINCIBLE POWER OF KINDNESS. The film is based on a Chinese novel by Taiwanese writer Gu Long. Originally released as a 3 hour film, the film was cut into two for video release and has since been edited down further. The longest version available is only 127 minutes!? I have yet to see the film though I do have a vcd collecting dust and spider crap somewhere? I'll eventually get around to it. The great Ti Lung is featured nicely in the poster as well as Frankie Chan Fan-kei, who's face is placed dead center? I don't believe it was by accident either; Frankie being the writer, director, producer, and an actor in the film. Chan usually muck's up his films with a little too much schtick leaving the films uneven. I'm not sure what he has on offer in this supposed "masterwork" and I have read a ton of mixed reviews, but if wuxia is your thang then you might want to check it out. And heck, it can't be all that bad. Ti Lung is in it!
I have part 1 and 2 (thanks Far Easr Flix) and it's a snoozefest
ReplyDeletehaha Thanks for the info. I'll probably get around to it someday.
