12th New York Asian Film Festival: June 28-July 15.

Yo!  It's that wonderful time of the year again where swamp ass and ball soup runs rampant.  But there's good news that will make your undies moist for a different reason.  The 12th NEW YORK ASIAN FILM FESTIVAL is about the kick off once again @ Lincoln Center's Walter Reade Theater.  Check out the line-up right here.
Guesting at the fest is once again way cool for a HK/Taiwan cinema lovin' fool like me as NY welcomes the great HERMAN YAU and his latest incarnation of the story of Ip Man, IP MAN: THE FINAL FIGHT.  HK director ANDREW LAU will also be on hand as the fest will show 2 of his classics, YOUNG AND DANGEROUS and YOUNG AND DANGEROUS II, as well as Wong Jing's 2012 pic THE LAST TYCOON, where Andrew served as cinematographer.  CAT III starlet in the making DADA CHEN, who made pants bulge in last years VULGARIA, will also be there with her new CAT III exercise, HARDCORE COMEDY.  Another of her films, TALES OF THE DARK 1, is the opening night selection, but she will not be in attendance for that film.  If you want to catch a glimpse of her goodies, you best check out HARDCORE COMEDY

The fest has an amazing side bar that is focusing on a little known era in Taiwanese cinema.  The 'black films' era.  These films are mainly exploitation flicks peppered with social issues that the Taiwanese gov't. eventually suppressed due to their dastardly depictions of social realism. Damn you social realism.  How dare you be so real!  Damn you straight to hell!

At the fest will be director HOU CHI-JAN, who made a fine documentary on these films, aptly titled, TAIWAN BLACK MOVIES.  Also, legendary director ULYSSES AU-YEUNG JUN will be at the fest with his 'black films', THE NUDE BODY CASE IN TOKYO aka WOMAN REVENGER and NEVER TOO LATE TO REPENT aka THE FIRST ERROR STEP.  The other films featured in the NYAFF's Taiwan Pulp section are A LIFE OF NINJA, CHALLENGE OF THE LADY NINJA, THE LADY AVENGER aka DEADLY DARLING and ON THE SOCIETY FILE OF SHANGHAI.  SO damn excited to see these films on the big screen.  I recently made a few poster purchases (surprise, surprise) of a few of these 'black films' that just so happen to be playing at the fest.  Check 'em out below.

And if that weren't enough, I have made my inglorious return to podcasting as a guest on the PODCAST ON FIRE NETWORK's show, TAIWAN NOIR, episode 8, as host Kenny B and I talk about this years NYAFF, Taiwanese Black Films, and I review the mid 90's Taiwanese turd nugget, FLYING CAR NATION

So, suffice to say that as the fest starts this Friday that I will be quite busy for the next few weeks.  I'll try and make it back to the blog sooner rather than later but, of course, no promises.  Here are the films I plan on seeing this year.  Will I also see you there?

Hey! Didn't This Used To Be A Blog About HK Movie Posters? What Happened?

Well all righty.  Back in the swing on the HK nudie magazine thing.  Let's get to it.  Here is a Japanese themed mag sold in HK in the mid-late 90's.  I've never heard of it and only came across this one as I spotted the small pic of Vivian Hsu on the cover.  If you look in the upper right hand corner of the mags cover, it boasts, THE MAGAZINE OF PLEASURE FOR MEN AND WOMEN.  Yes.  And yikes!  There were a few shmeckles flopping about.  But I braved through and discovered a decent spread of Ms. Hsu.
I believe the pics used in the magazine are taken from her photo book that I picked up in HK.  But I was too lazy to cross reference.  But, really.  Who cares?  Vivian Hsu is nude in this mag.  And also in that book.  It's all just wonderful.

Another ICHIBAN mag and this one jumped out at me as the lovely Julia Cheng Lim-Yai is featured front and center.  Julia only graced a few CAT III production and is/was actually quite a fine actress otherwise.  Her two most notable films are WHORE AND POLICEWOMAN and DAUGHTER OF DARKNESS IIBUT, she is nowhere to be found inside the mag?  Drats!  Foiled once again.

And yet another Miho Nomoto photo book outta HK.  I also found one of her photo books at a newsstand in HK on the corner of Hankow Rd., just as it abuts Peking Rd., in Tsim Sha Tsui.

This book is a really nice, sometimes classy and sometimes trashy, look at Miho, put out by HK Penthouse.  And we are all the more thankful for it.  Class and trash.  That's kinda like saying, "I want a lady in the parlor and a whore in the bedroom."  That's the way I like it!

Ahhhhh!  The wonderful Rena Otomo livens up the cover of this issue of HK Playboy.  A CAT III stalwart and one of the more reliable actresses to bring the goods, when her name was in the credits, it was a surefire guarantee her flesh would be on display.  And just so ya know, Rena stars in one of my all-time fave CAT III pics, LAN KWAI FONG SWINGERS.

Also in the issue is an interview with Tony Leung Kar-Fai.  They call him 'Big Tony.'  Maybe Rena can vouch for that?

And yet another awesome find.  CAT III starlet, Chan Pooi-Kei graces the cover AND centerfold.   And like her CAT III sister in....bosoms, Chan Wing-Chi, her layout is curiously lacking any real nudity.  A lot of coy covering up of the naughty bits.  But check out some of her CAT III work.  It's all skin to win!

Dammit, Pooi-Kei!  Show me something!

And finally.  The January 1992 issue of HK Penthouse boasts the formidable talents of Ms. Chun Hung.  The well endowed Chun was just entering her CAT III stretch as an actress in '92 and made a fair handful of fine trash culminating in the awesomely titled SEVEN SEXUAL MANIACS in 1994.  One of her most memorable roles was as Charlie Cho's lactating secretary in FALSE LADY.  Once seen, never forgotten.  Her character is named 'Milka' and her boss Charlie just loves his breast milk lattes.  Gross.  Penthouse does her, and us, a great favor in this issue.  Holy guacamole!

More Hong Kong Penthouse In The House!

Another week comes and another batch of HK nudie mags arrive at my doorstep.  What a wonderful world.  The glorious visage that graces the April 1994 version of Hong Kong Penthouse is that of the damn fine Mrs. Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, Carina Lau.  Of course, Mrs. Leung doesn't do nekkidness so there is only what Penthouse calls a 'Star Focus' article on her film career.  Still awesome nonetheless.

And now we jump from an actress who never sheds her threads to one who not only drops trough but shows you the her pink AND her stink.  Can I be any cruder?  Sheeesh!  Sorry 'bout that one folks!  Hahaha  The magnificently trampy Julie Lee Wah-Yuet funkifies the cover of the May 1994 issue.  A nice, long pictorial is crammed into this volume as Julie touts her just released CAT IV flicker, TRILOGY OF LUST.
Stills from TRILOGY OF LUST (1995)

The July 1992 cover boasts Greenstreet Kan.  Kan may not be too well known among most HK movie fans but has appeared in over a dozen films and might be more well known as a HK personality.  The indispensable website, Hong Kong Cinema- View From The Brooklyn Bridge, states that, "At the age of 70, he managed to marry a woman 50 yrs his junior and kept his sex schedule busy."  Right on, good sir!  Sadly, Kan has shuffled off this mortal coil, but certainly not after shuffling his knuckles a time or two.

A favorite actress of mine, Ms. Isabelle Chow, who in the last post shined on a Playboy cover, sells her appearance in the CAT III classic, SEX AND ZEN with a movie still pictorial in the December 1992 issue.

 SEX AND ZEN (1991)

This fresh faced, crooked toothed starlet is Japanese AV actress turned CAT III actress, albeit ever so briefly, Madoka Ozawa.  Livening up the October 1997 issue as her only HK film credit, DON'T TELL MY PARTNER, was released the same month.

This is the only pic I can show you from her pictorial.  Yikes!  It's skin to win.  Orthodontists be damned!  Also in the issue is an interview with HK comedian/actor Dayo Wong, pictured below.  It looks like Dayo is engaged in some auto-erotica.  Maybe thinking of Madoka's mangled incisors?  Freak!

Another AV starlet cum (heeheeheeee) CAT III actress, Miho Nomoto, beautifies this December 1995 dirty rag.  She has a fine looking 'spread' in the mag but, of course, I can't show any of the pics.  This is a family blog!  Check more Miho out HERE.

Also in this issue is an article/interview with sexy beast cop (a FB friend came up with that one.  Thanks!), Anthony Wong.  Above, Wong looks dreamy...then not so much, as he appears to be showing his 'O' face.

Hey, ladies!  This ain't a beer belly.  It's a fuel tank for a sex machine!

Oh, yeah!  Saving the best for last, but certainly not least.  The September 1994 issue blazes through us with the uh-maz-ing Chingmy Yau on the cover.  No nudie cutie pictorial as that is not Chingmy's bag.  It's my bag, baby.  And if I choose to fantasize about Chingmy in the buff, then that is my gosh given right.  I know you're doing the same.

Chingmy Yau-za!!!!!
